Trip Route: Road Trip in the Time of Covid

Let me start by saying this route is tentative. There have been several variations through the planning process - I feel the route I'm detailing in this post will work best in the time I've allotted. That said, I'm trying to be flexible since I have that luxury, so the routing may get turned on its head at any moment. Consider this a preview of my intentions.

I will leave my home in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, June 13, and will end in Colorado on Monday, July 13. This gives me one month to get in as many hikes in my favorite National Parks as possible.

My plan is to concentrate on hiking and chillaxing for several days each in the following National Parks:

1. Monument Valley

2. Mesa Verde

3. Bryce Canyon

4. Zion

5. Grand Teton

6. Yellowstone

I've been using the wonderful Roadtripper app to plan out the most logic routing and add in a few fun stops along the way. Below is the tentative list of stops in order:

3. Meteor Crater

4. Sedona, Arizona

5. Grand Canyon National Park

6. Horseshoe Bend

7. Antelope Canyon, Navajo Tribal Park

8. Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

9. Four Corners National Monument

10. Mesa Verde National Park

11. Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

12. Silverton, Colorado

13. Arches National park

14. Capitol Reef National Park

15. Bryce Canyon National Park

16. Zion National Park

17. Great Salt Lake State Park

18. Jackson Hole, Wyoming

19. The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

20. Grand Teton National Park

21. Yellowstone National Park

22. For Laramie, Wyoming

23. Rocky Mountain National Park

24. Cadillac Ranch

25. The Big Texan Steak Ranch

Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, I am aware that some of these places are experiencing limited operation. Fortunately, I have no set schedule and a go-with-the-flow attitude.
